A Night At the 'G
To make the most of A$75, I trekked across vast distances (see the Tyranny of Distance; Geoffrey Blainey; Pan Mcmillian 1977; yes, I don't know how to cite books properly) and struggled over stormy waves of loud, smoking, screaming, pamphlet-giving people to make it to the MCG for Super Saturday!!
And was it super? Erm, well, the Commonwealth Games supposedly being second only to the Olympic Games, I should say that it was spectacular. And I'm not saying it isn't! It was really wonderful, the atmosphere, the adorable Cronulla kids (Read: teenagers fiercely draped in the Australian flag, with green and yellow flowers in their hair, holding a gigantic kangeroo with the flag emblazoned on it, with neon yellow and green war paint splashed on their faces) in front of me. Let's just say I am really really glad I wasn't Lebanese or was foolish enough to drape myself in the Singapore flag or even wear red and white, thank goodness.
But you see, I'm not a terrible sports fanatic. Still, it was fun, but I was tired and getting home from the MCG? Horrible.
