Rules for a Good, Satisfying Life
AHHH!!! Helen Garner is coming to school!! Helen Garner!!!!! Author of The Children's Bach, my second favourite book of all time. (The Life of Pi is still my number one) Or if it isn't (because somehow another favourite slipped from my mind) it's definitely my favourite Australian novel. Hate Winston, didn't like the Isobel stories, loathed Harp in the South (Oh God, the painful, painful memories!) was only partially fond of Maestro. So yes, Ms Garner has won my heart. And she is also coming to speak to us in an informal setting (hopefully we can bring in coffee and tim tams) where undoubtedly I will be sitting trembling away in the corner of the room, gazing in awe and way too afraid to speak.
And on a completely unrelated note:
Dear Lear says, "Hysterica passio, down, climbing sorrow!"
Be they prelims, or SACs or unnamed sorrows, we'll fight our demons one by one.
